Steps

1. Make sure you clean out the turtle's aquarium every week at the least! When cleaning out a turtle's tank put the rocks in a drainer and rinse them in the sink. Then, wipe out the aquarium with a wet paper towel. Make sure you fill the tank up 2x your turtle's size. So, say he or she is an inch long, fill the tank up with 2 inches of room temp water. Make sure you have a place where the turtle can come up out of the water, on a rock preferably. Note - If you have a specially made turtle tank with a filter you will not have to clean it as much.
2. Get a light bulb that is specially made for reptiles or amphibians. You can find them in most pet stores. Put the lamp with the bulb in right over the tank where the turtle would come out of the water. Make sure the bulb won't fall into the tank.
3. Buy the turtle at least two kinds of turtle food at your local pet store. Give your turtle a variety of food, they will enjoy that. If the turtle is not interested in one of the foods, try and get it a different kind, and if it isn't eating anything, call your turtle's vet to make sure everything is okay.
